Employee Performance Management

Mission

The Employee Performance Management Process (EPMP) is a recurring, yearly process of goal setting and performance appraisal for Central Office employees to ensure that 1) the district's goals are effectively translated into achievable goals and performance expectations at the district, department, team and individual levels, 2) employees at all levels are held accountable for their achievement, recognized for their contributions and supported in their career development, 3) the district maintains a process for continuous improvement and a focus on service, and 4) DPS remains a compelling place for employees to work, learn and grow.

Vision

To foster common expectations for performance across Central Office functions in DPS, to achieve consistency in how employees are supported, evaluated, and rewarded across departments, and to align team and individual work efforts with DPS's goals of leading the nation's cities in student achievement, high school graduation, college preparation, and college matriculation.

Objectives

The objectives of the Employee Performance Management Process are to:

  • Align employees with DPS objectives, focusing them on those things most directly linked to student achievement and growth
  • Build accountability for results
  • Empower employees to perform by ensuring clear goals and expectations
  • Develop those competencies most important to district success
  • Recognize employees for their contributions

Through the EPMP process, the district is committed to ensuring every employee:

  • Has clear goals and performance expectations, and understands how his/her work contributes to district goals
  • Receives concrete performance feedback, on-going coaching and recognition for contributions
  • Receives a documented performance review, at least annually
  • Has opportunities to discuss professional goals and what's needed to succeed with his/her supervisor
  • Has opportunities to continuously learn and grow with the district
