Welcome
Working together to increase student achievement, graduation rates and college readiness are the goals of Denver Public Schools. These goals will be achieved by using new and better tools that inform us about student, teacher, school and central office performance, implementing new training to promote a customer service-focused culture and initiating an employee performance appraisal system for central office employees that sets clear expectations and links rewards to performance. Our aim is to foster a more dynamic and collaborative culture at DPS - one built on trust, shared accountability, and results.
At its core, the Performance Management initiative is focused on people, service and metrics. The focus on people involves recruiting, training and retaining highly motivated and skilled employees, and ensuring that the right people are doing the right jobs. An emphasis on service refers to the mission of each Central Office department supporting students, teachers and principals to the best of their abilities. And metrics means setting clear goals, tracking progress against these goals and implementing change when it is necessary.
We will know our efforts have been successful when:
- We, as a school district, reach our student achievement and graduation goals. We are doing this in large part through the numerous academic and operations-focused initiatives already underway as part of the Performance Management Initiative.
- We are maintaining our focus on continually improving in these key areas to ensure that Denver Public Schools becomes the best urban school district in the country and remains a compelling place to work, learn and grow.
